The hues in this series are a nod to those vibrant reds and golds in Buddhist temples and Catholic churches, which Cardozo has visited throughout her life. They evoke in the viewer a sense of warmth and inner joy.
The formality of the lines recall her early training, which included copying designs of church tiles, and also emphasizes the methodical nature of rituals and religious teachings.
